I have a 2012 Cruze LS with the 1.8 L engine. I am having a problem with the trunk lid randomly opening. Sometimes it does it when I unlock the car. I used both key fobs and still does it. You still can NOT open the trunk from the outside button if the key is in contact! Stupid setting in my opinion, if you pick up a friend and he wants to put something ... Take the button off inside the car. See if you can figure out if it is defective. If you have an electric meter, check it to make sure it has continuity when you press it. Also see if shorting the contacts on the plug that hooks to the switch make the trunk open like it should. You should be able to figure it out.
