Just trying to get a handle on prices and value. I saw a sanded down buffed out k98 with mostly matching but the front metal band. Was like 800.00 the a NR bidder came it racked it up to 1750. It looked nice like a Mitchells mauser but at the same time it had non original bluing and buff marks on all the parts to make them look like new.Member. Oct 9, 2014. #1. The second is on the underside of the receiver and under the chamber. It is stamped K29 indicating production between 1929 and 1933. There is a stamp under the serial on the side of the receiver P.W. I have seen this mark elsewhere but none are as clear as this one. The stamp is crystal clear and not worn.Post war FN provided Mauser action rifles to half the world, it is a FN Mauser, not a K98. Your Chinese marking do not seem to be Chinese markings to my eyes, but rather some random scratching. I know of no world wide serial number base to Track FN Mausers. I have never seen a Chinese "capture" K98k. Mauser did sell 98k type rifles to China in , I believe 1937, these were identical to K98ks excpet for markings. i have one that is all matching, another matching except bolt.
