Day 3: - Seaquest Snorkeling to Kealakekua Bay / Capt. Cook Monument / third south kona site 8:00am to 1:15pm. Day 4: - check out early and head for VNP - North Drive Route (how early to enjoy scenary few stops etc) 5 years ago. Save. I think the Big Island is worth considering for you. You can plan to spend 5 of your 7 nights on the beachy Kohala Coast on the Big Island and 2 in Volcano to see VNP. If there happens to be lava you can see while you are there, then you had a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

But it will likely be on a rugged, rocky shoreline, and not have A/C and no good beach nearby. Kauai is smaller, greener, and usually drier weather in that time and a wonderful to visit . Snorkeling is ok but not the best.
